What hydraulic fittings are commonly used on tractors?
Tractors commonly use JIC 37° flare, ORFS, SAE ORB, NPT/NPTF, BSPP, BSPT, metric and selected flange connections. The actual fitting standard depends on the equipment design, country of origin and hydraulic circuit.
How do I identify an unknown tractor hydraulic fitting?
Check whether the connection is male or female, then measure the thread diameter and pitch and identify the sealing interface. Existing part numbers, equipment manuals, drawings, samples and clear photographs can also support identification.
Can the tractor brand and model confirm the correct fitting?
The tractor brand and model provide useful reference information but cannot confirm the fitting by themselves. Different production years, hydraulic functions and equipment configurations may use different threads, sealing methods and dimensions.
Are JIC and ORFS tractor fittings interchangeable?
No. JIC fittings seal through a 37° flare interface, while ORFS fittings use an O-ring retained in the male flat-face groove. Their threads, sealing structures and mating components must be checked separately.
What is the difference between BSPP, BSPT and NPT fittings?
BSPP uses parallel threads and requires a defined sealing interface, while BSPT and NPT use different tapered-thread forms. Similar appearance or nominal size does not confirm interchangeability between these connections.
Do all tractor hydraulic fittings use O-rings?
No. ORFS, SAE ORB and selected metric connections use O-rings in different positions, while JIC fittings use a 37° flare seat and some pipe connections use tapered threads. The sealing method must match the mating port.
What materials are available for tractor hydraulic fittings?
Common options include carbon steel, stainless steel and selected brass configurations. Material and surface finish should be selected according to pressure, fluid, temperature, corrosion exposure and equipment requirements.
Can existing fitting part numbers be cross-referenced?
Existing supplier part numbers, catalogs, drawings and samples can be used as starting points for identification. Interchangeability should only be approved after checking the thread, sealing interface, key dimensions, material and pressure requirements.
Can tractor hydraulic fittings be customized?
Selected fittings can be evaluated for qualified OEM and production programs based on confirmed drawings or verified samples. Custom requirements may include dimensions, material, finish, marking, labels, SKU identification and packaging.
