Description
Compare the listed models using the dimensional drawing and specification table. Check the required stroke, retracted mounting length, pin diameters, mounting widths, and oil port arrangement before selecting a cylinder.
Equipment brand names and reference descriptions assist with identification. They do not establish compatibility with every plow from that brand. The cylinder must match the specific equipment model, function, and installation dimensions.

Customization options are available for snow plow hydraulic cylinders, allowing adjustments to stroke lengths, mounting configurations, and pressure ratings to meet the specific needs of snow and ice removal equipment.
SP - Snow Plow Hydraulic Cylinders
Take a closer look at how snow plow hydraulic cylinder components are machined. This video introduces the processing of cylinder tubes, rods, and mounting parts, highlighting the surfaces and dimensions that affect assembly and installation.
Follow the manufacturing process as components move through preparation and assembly. See how individual parts come together to form the cylinder, with attention to sealing areas, component alignment, and connection details.
The video offers a practical view of the work behind the finished cylinder, helping you understand its construction beyond product photos and specification tables. Click to watch the manufacturing process at Topa.
Snow Plow Cylinder Applications
Hydraulic cylinders are used in several snow plow mechanisms. The applications below describe common functions; suitability of an SP series model must be confirmed against the equipment drawing and hydraulic circuit.
Blade Lifting: Raises the plow blade for transport or repositioning. Cylinder stroke and mounting geometry must provide the required ground clearance without exceeding the mechanism’s travel limits.
Straight-Blade Angling: Adjusts the blade left or right to direct snow discharge. Some systems use paired single-acting cylinders, with one extending as the other retracts.
Compact Vehicle Plows: Supports blade movement on suitably equipped compact tractors, utility vehicles, and other smaller machines. Available installation space and hydraulic system requirements must be checked for each design.
Custom Snow Plow Assemblies: Provides cylinder configurations for equipment with specific mounting dimensions, stroke requirements, or port arrangements. Selection starts with the intended function and installation drawing.
V-Plow and Multi-Position Systems: These mechanisms may require a different cylinder type or hydraulic arrangement. Confirm the circuit and blade-control requirements before specifying an SP series cylinder.
